Backwards Time
Action
- Try using backwards time.
- Step 1: Start at the end. Choose a time you'll be done working for the day (off the clock), e.g. 4pm.
- Step 2: Choose a start time, e.g. 7am.
- Step 3: Set a timer for the hours in between, e.g. 9 hours.
- Step 4: Create within that window.
- Step 5: Notice how your relationship to time changes.
Reminders
- You want a healthy, positive relationship with time.
- Setting an off-the-clock time creates boundaries, so you're not checking email at 11pm.
- Backwards time gives you a new relationship to your daily time. You see it as a creation window.
- It makes you more focused and accountable to what you get to create every day.
