I watched this play out in a coaching call a couple weeks ago. A client of mine had a massive tree fall on his property. Professional tree services rolled up with lettered trucks, logo shirts, and quotes between eight and twelve thousand dollars. Then a 65-year-old guy named Jerry left a handwritten note. Three words inside it: "I am dependable." A smiley face. An offer of fifteen hundred dollars. Jerry won the job. He built a relationship. He later revealed three thousand dollars of hidden timber value and offered to split it, because he had been treated well. That story is the whole lesson. The most human move on the field beat every professional one, and no AI on earth could have invented it.

The most human businesses set expectations at the ceiling and then deliver, so reality always feels like a win. The decision to lead with radical honesty about price, timing, and what could go wrong is yours, and it is deeply human.   5. Run an abracadabra check. Before anything ships, ask whether it says who you actually are. If you would not say it in a handwritten note, do not let the machine say it for you.
