- Coaches have an advantage with AI because the hard part of AI is language, clarity, and inner work. The technical side is learnable, because AI already has it.
- Hand off anything you do twice to an AI agent and let it do the work instead of answering questions.
- Use AI live on client calls to show people everything they could be doing, starting from where they are.
- The goal of strategy is action. Ship something publicly this week.
Why do coaches have an advantage with AI? Most coaches assume AI belongs to the technical people, and that belief keeps them on the sidelines. The truth is that coaches have an advantage with AI, because the skills that make AI useful are the ones coaches practice every day: asking great questions, using precise language, and doing the inner work that turns intention into action.
I saw this play out on a call this week with a coach I talk with regularly. They are building their own coaching business, and they built a personal wellbeing coach in ChatGPT. Soon after, that bot was pulling on the thread of where else they were making excuses. That is coaching language at work.
Why Do Coaches Have an Advantage With AI?
Language and inner work are the skills tech people lack. The technical side is learnable, because AI has it.
When you build an AI agent, you are writing a job description, setting a standard, and giving feedback. That is coaching. When an agent drifts, you ask a better question. That is coaching too.
I told my call partner something I believe deeply: being a coach is such an advantage in AI. My call partner had already proven it with one clear sentence they posted publicly: "I help people become more conscious authors of their lives." That line lands harder than any SEO-style label, and it came straight from inner work.
Do Non-Technical Coaches Have an Advantage With AI?
Yes. Non-technical coaches have an advantage with AI right now, because the tools finally do the technical work for you.
AI has shifted from answering questions to doing the work. That is the biggest change I have seen since ChatGPT launched. My AI team runs on Notion, which has been my single source of truth for four years, and when I point an agent at Notion it builds whatever databases it needs.
I see the same pattern in the rooms I coach. Many very successful people feel like novices around AI. One member of a mastermind I coach inside told me they felt like they were barely scratching the surface. My advice: come from abundance, opportunity, and possibility. If that imposter feeling sounds familiar, I wrote about getting started with AI when you feel like an imposter.
What Should a Coach Hand Off to an AI Agent First?
My rule is simple: if you do something twice, give it to GrokBot.
Start with the repeatable work that grows your business. My speaking agent, Speaky, finds stages and podcasts, scores each opportunity, tracks the contact and the days left, flags when one is ready for me, and logs all of it to Notion. It adds new opportunities every day.
The output is the part that changed how I think about my business. In week one, my AI team did 80 hours of work. In week two, it did 147.
If you want a list to start from, here is what tasks to give an AI agent. Then hold every agent to the standards I use: a clear definition of done, fail loud, the agent drafts and you press send, and it shows the receipts.
How Do Coaches Use AI Live on a Client Call?
Ask where people are, then have Claude list everything they could be doing.
That is my live approach on group calls. Someone shares where they are with AI. I open Claude live and ask it to map every way that person could be using AI in their business right now.
This is how I ended up as the AI coach inside a high-end mastermind. The team running it realized their program had coaches for business, fitness, mindset, and health, and nobody for AI. They asked me to run one pilot call. Four calls later, each with a different group, it has become one of the best things to happen to my business in 16 years.
How Can AI Help a Coach Stand Out to Bigger Clients?
Be so good they can't ignore you.
After that first pilot call, I showed the program's operator something I had built in Claude: a life resume library made from 147 notes I had taken on the founder's talks, organized into 11 themes. The operator asked for the themes for the year-end retreat. I sent the whole library. It went straight to the founder.
That is the move for coaches. Take the notes, the frameworks, and the stories you already carry, and use AI to turn them into something a client can hold in their hands. Your years of listening become an asset. For a wider view of how this fits a practice, here is how to build an AI-enabled coaching practice that still feels human.
Should Coaches Write a Business Plan Before Using AI?
The goal of strategy is action, so let the plan serve the action.
My call partner was working a gold, silver, and bronze business plan with a two-month window before January 1. They talked about knocking off the rust and getting into the swing of things. I challenged all of it. In the AI era the landscape shifts every week, so a business plan can quietly become the delay.
I also caught them saying "gotta do" and "need to do." Conscious authorship is entirely get-to. Swap the language and the energy changes with it.
My call partner took the feedback and added two lines I wrote down immediately. "You don't have to feel brilliant to act brilliantly." And, from a hard lesson on a trip abroad, "There is no such thing as a safe option."
Here is how I would put this to work:
- Name your coaching edge in one sentence. Write the line that describes the change you create for people.
- List what you did twice this week. Pick one item and hand it to an AI agent with a clear definition of done.
- Run one live AI moment with a client. Ask where they are, then have Claude list everything they could be doing.
- Turn your notes into an asset. Have AI organize what you already know into themes a client can use. If you want to go further, here is how to use AI to scale a coaching business.
- Replace "gotta" with "get to." Then ship something publicly this week.
One of their clients described a vision of the future this way: "I could hear the clock ticking and I wasn't worried about it." That is what being all in feels like. Coaches already have the language, the questions, and the inner work. AI gives you a team to carry it further, and the time to start is today.
